Hey Reader 😊
Hope it has been a great week! (aside from the OSU game, of course..)
If you're anything like me, trying new tools/software can be an expensive, unproductive, and high-friction process. It's just easier to stick with what what's familiar.
But what if..
they were all free, easy to use, and had little/no learning curve?
Well, lucky for you, I have tons.
This week I narrowed them down to my five favorites that check all these boxes.
I call them the Part-Time Marketer's Toolkit. Let's dive in.
Special shoutout to Mike/Ryan/Brucie for making the mockups look far better than I could ever do myself.
Shots.so makes it SO easy to create clean, professional screenshots and mockups without needing advanced design software. It’s open-source and frequently updated with new device templates.
Best use case: Sending branded visuals like wireframes and mockups to clients. (Note: Better Models=Better Results 😉)
This extension reveals how websites are structured by showing page titles, meta descriptions, URL setups, and more. It’s a simple way to analyze your competitors’ sites and understand what keywords they are targeting.
Why it matters: It’s a quick, accessible way to optimize your site and stay competitive.
Loom allows you to record your screen and voice with minimal setup. After recording, you get a shareable link to send directly to clients or teammates. It’s a practical tool for quick tutorials and project updates.
Good to know: The free plan includes up to 25 recordings- but a little hack is to add more emails to your workspace, as it'll give you 25 additional videos per email ;)
I use Metricool for analytics as well. It has a great UI and aggregates all your platforms in one dashboard
Metricool is a scheduling tool that makes it easy to plan and post content across multiple platforms. While the free version limits you to 50 posts a month, it’s a solid option for maintaining consistency.
Notable feature: Its repurposing function lets you set up templates for each platform, saving time on repetitive reposting.
ChatGPT helps with everything from content generation to brainstorming ideas. It can reduce the time spent on routine tasks and add efficiency to your workflow.
Takeaway: It’s a useful tool for automating small tasks and experimenting with new ideas.
GA can be a little tough to navigate... but once you get a hang of it, it's very insightful. And nerdily cool.
Google Analytics offers insights into how visitors interact with your website. Use it to understand where your traffic is coming from and identify what’s driving conversions.
Recommendation: Focus on traffic sources and key page performance metrics to guide your strategy.
Grammarly isn't just for writing boring school papers anymore.
Grammarly is a free "copilot" software you can install on your device that'll correct speech, learn your voice, and fix typos. Incredibly helpful, and it's one of my first installs on any device.
Need More?!
I put together this swipe file of all the Free AI Marketing Tools I have ever used, along with use cases, links, and a tutorial attached. It's free and you're already on my mailing list, so it's (doubly) free for you, haha. Check it out if it tickles your fancy.
This took awhile to put together
I guarantee you can find at least ONE thing on here you can play with. Have fun. But remember...
With great power comes great responsibility. And remember the guide who introduced you to your new favorite tools ;)
